Teens in AI joined forces with MYTIME Young Carers at the Employability Summit 2026, delivering an interactive workshop aimed at empowering young carers with the digital literacy, skills and confidence needed to navigate the evolving world of work.

  • Event: MYTIME Employability Summit 2026
  • Date: 4 November 2026
  • Location: Bournemouth University Fusion Building
  • Speaker: Victoria Sinel, NED, Teens in AI
  • Workshop: AI at Work: Friend, Tool or Threat?

Victoria's workshop delivered an engaging exploration of how artificial intelligence is shaping the workplace. Students discovered how AI is being used across different careers, the opportunities it creates and the challenges it presents, helping them to think about the future of work and their own career journeys.

The session focused on:

  • Demystifying artificial intelligence: breaking down how AI operates behind everyday tools and emerging industry applications.
  • The future of careers: exploring how artificial intelligence is transforming traditional roles and generating entirely new career paths.
  • Opportunities vs. challenges: evaluating both the potential of AI to enhance productivity and creativity, alongside ethical challenges and workforce disruptions.
  • Practical empowerment: equipping young carers with the mindset to leverage AI as a supportive tool for their own educational and professional journeys.

There are an estimated 800,000 young carers across the UK: children and teenagers aged 5 to 18 who balance education and growing up with caring for family members facing illness, disability, mental health challenges or substance misuse. MYTIME's mission centres on ensuring that no young person's future is limited by their caregiving responsibilities at home.

Recognising the vital need for accessible career pathways, Teens in AI participated in the summit to ensure these young people have a seat at the table in the digital economy.

"No young person's destiny should be defined by their beginning," noted Victoria Sinel. "Young carers already possess extraordinary resilience, problem-solving abilities, and empathy. By demystifying AI and showing how it can serve as a powerful tool in their future careers, we hope to open doors and inspire confidence in their potential as future leaders and innovators."

Teens in AI remains committed to breaking down barriers to tech education and expanding access for underrepresented youth across the UK and globally.
