Teens in AI teaches young people how artificial intelligence works, how to build with it, and how to question it. Because we both teach AI and use AI, we hold ourselves to a clear public standard for how AI is – and is not – used in our own products and organisation.
This statement applies to how Teens in AI uses AI across our organisation and all of our programmes and learning experiences, including AI Adventures, and applies alongside our 🔗Privacy Policy, 🔗Children’s Privacy Policy, 🔗Terms of Use, and 🔗Safeguarding Policy.
Some educational materials are drafted or enhanced using generative AI tools. Every piece of AI-assisted content is reviewed, corrected, and approved by our subject-matter experts before it reaches learners. No content is published to the platform without human review.
Our team may use AI tools for internal tasks such as drafting, research, and administration. Learner personal data is not entered into such tools.
We use conventional analytics (not AI profiling) to understand how the platform is used, as described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice.
A named human is accountable for every AI-assisted process; AI assists our educators, it does not replace them.
We say where AI is used - in this statement, in our policies, and in our courses. Learners are taught to recognise and question AI-generated content, including ours.
Where AI is used to support the creation of learning content, that content is subject to human review for safety, accuracy and age-appropriateness before it reaches learners.
We do not use learner personal data in AI tools. We minimise the personal data we collect and use it only where necessary to deliver our programmes and understand their impact.
Content is reviewed for potential bias, fairness and cultural appropriateness across the diverse contexts and communities we serve.
If we get something wrong, we will say so, fix it, and tell those affected in line with our incident and breach procedures.
Responsible AI is not only a compliance posture for us – it is the curriculum. AI Adventures courses embed AI ethics, critical evaluation of AI outputs, bias, safety, and the societal impact of AI throughout, so that young people leave not just able to build with AI but equipped to challenge it.
This statement is owned by Elena Sinel, CEO. AI-assisted content is reviewed under our expert-review process, our Advisory Board provides independent oversight of our practices. We review this statement at least annually, and whenever we adopt a new AI use case – a new use that conflicts with the commitments above will not be adopted without publicly updating this statement first.
Our approach is informed by internationally recognised frameworks for responsible and child-centred AI, including UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, UNICEF’s Guidance on AI and Children, and the UK Information Commissioner’s Office guidance on children’s information and the Children’s Code. We also keep relevant legal and regulatory developments under review as AI governance evolves.
