Since 2021, Sage and Teens in AI have worked together to help young people explore technology in ways that are practical, inclusive, and socially relevant.
Built on a shared commitment to opportunity and responsible innovation, the partnership supports teenagers from diverse backgrounds to build practical AI skills through flagship programmes and courses including cybersecurity, prompt engineering, and AI agents. Through expert mentorship and learning content, young people gain the confidence to imagine their place in the future of technology and start building towards it.
In 2026, the partnership expanded further with the launch of the North East AI Talent Acceleration Programme, bringing structured AI literacy and career pathways to students aged 13–19 across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, and County Durham.
Designed to move from inspiration to action, the partnership brings together learning, mentorship, and real-world challenge solving.
Young people were introduced to future-focused technology through accessible, hands-on learning designed to spark curiosity, confidence, and ambition.
Across flagship programmes, participants developed practical skills in AI, innovation, and problem-solving while working on challenges linked to real-world issues.
Sage colleagues contributed as mentors, judges, speakers, instructors, and course developers, helping bring industry knowledge directly into the learning experience.

"This programme helps turn ambition into opportunity by connecting young people with real-world AI experience, industry expertise, and structured learning opportunities. Our focus at Sage is on ensuring that access to AI education and skills development is widened at pace, so more young people are equipped to progress into the opportunities being created across the region.”
Helen Devanny, Vice President of Sage Foundation
This partnership is delivered across Teens in AI’s flagship programmes, creating opportunities for young people to learn by doing, engage with industry, and apply technology to real social challenges.
By supporting these experiences, partners help make expert-led learning, mentorship, project development, and youth innovation more accessible to the next generation. It is a model designed to deliver educational value, employee engagement, and visible social impact.
