London, UK – 8 April 2026 – Teens in AI, a UK-based global social impact initiative dedicated to inspiring the next generation of responsible innovators in AI and emerging technologies through collaborative, hands-on learning experiences, is excited to announce the launch of a new AI Agent course developed in collaboration with Sage, a Teens in AI Platinum Partner, and a global leader in accounting, financial, HR, and payroll technology for small and mid-sized businesses.
As part of the partnership, Sage Foundation, is supporting the development of a series of AI Adventures courses for 13 to 19 year olds, providing them with essential AI and digital skills. The latest course in the series, ‘Building AI Agents: Your Local Green Action Assistant’, is designed for ages 14+ interested in developing their AI skills.
AI Adventures equips young people with the knowledge and skills to engage confidently with emerging technologies. This course introduces learners to how AI powered tools operate in controlled environments, focusing on how they respond to user inputs, process information and support decision-making tasks. Students build their own locally run project within a virtual environment, where the system acts in response to user prompts. Through creating a Local Green Action Assistant, learners explore how AI can help identify environmental opportunities in their communities and support informed action. Alongside technical and critical-thinking skills, the course focuses on safe and responsible AI. Learners cover the principles of trustworthy AI, the risks of AI systems operating without enough human oversight, and what it takes to design AI that’s fair, reliable and directed by people.
Aaron Harris, Chief Technology Officer at Sage said: “One of the things we’re really focused on is helping to build the right instincts around AI early. Because the challenge isn’t whether AI can do something, it’s whether you should trust it to do it. So rather than starting with fully autonomous systems, this course is grounded in structured, and user-directed applications – the kind of environments where you can see what the system is doing, understand why it’s doing it, and stay in control. Working through real scenarios in a controlled setting gives students a much clearer picture of how these systems behave in practice and just as importantly, where the boundaries are. That’s how you start to build judgement around safety, accountability, and what ‘good’ really looks like in AI.”
Sage’s Principal Machine Learning Scientist, Yu-Cheng Tsai, is delivering the course alongside Machine Learning Engineers Bona Chow and Mac Chen. Yu-Cheng holds a PhD from Princeton University and has led AI development in both semiconductor engineering and Generative AI at Sage. Bona and Mac bring strong academic and applied experience from the University of Cambridge and University of Edinburgh, contributing expertise across machine learning and real-world AI applications.
Teens in AI Founder and CEO, Elena Sinel, adds: “It is essential that young people understand not only how AI systems work, but how to use and design them responsibly. Through our partnership with Sage, this course gives teens practical experience in building AI applications that are guided by human input, while developing a strong foundation in ethics, safety and critical thinking. We are equipping the next generation to approach AI with responsibility, awareness and confidence.“
‘Building AI Agents: Your Local Green Assistant’ course outline:
By the end of the course, students will understand how AI agent systems work, set up their own development environment and build a functional AI-powered application using Python. Working within a local, controlled setup, they will create a sustainability-focused project that responds to user input and demonstrates responsible AI design, which they can showcase in applications or portfolios. The course is interactive, self-paced, delivered fully online and can be completed within one week.
