Teens in AI has been recognised by The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as an Approved Activity Provider, enabling young people across the UK to complete the Skills section of their Award through trusted, high-quality AI education programmes.

18 February 2026, London, UK – Teens in AI is proud to announce that they are now an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Skills section of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE). Teens in AI’s AI Adventures online, self-paced courses are designed for young people aged 14–24 and can now count towards a young person’s Bronze, Silver, or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Teens in AI’s AI Adventures online, self-paced courses give young people of all backgrounds the chance to develop practical skills in AI, technology, and digital innovation. Participants build technical understanding alongside critical thinking, problem-solving, ethical awareness, and confidence in using technology responsibly. Teens in AI’s mission is to prepare young people for an AI-enabled future by providing accessible education that supports personal development, broadens career aspirations, and allows them to gain recognised accreditation as part of their Bronze, Silver, and Gold DofE Awards.

To do their DofE, young people aged 14-24 choose activities in four sections: improving a Physical and Skills activity, Volunteering for a cause of their choice, and completing a demanding Expedition. Along the way they have fun, grow in resilience and self-belief, discover new talents and passions, and learn practical skills to help them in future – while working towards a highly respected Award.

More young people than ever started their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in 2024-25 – with half a million actively participating, with more schools, community organisations and prisons running the DofE.

Sophie Keaveney, Senior Operations Manager, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, said:We are delighted that Teens in AI is now an Approved Activity Provider for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, opening the door to more fantastic opportunities for young people to gain new skills that set them up for the future. We know that many of our DofE participants are passionate about technology and digital innovation and it’s brilliant that they will have the chance to follow this passion through their DofE Award.”

Elena Sinel, Founder and CEO of Teens in AI, added: “Being an Approved Activity Provider by The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a significant milestone for Teens in AI. It recognises the quality, safety and impact of our programmes, and reinforces the trust placed in us to support young people’s development. This approval enables more young people to gain essential AI and technology skills while working towards a respected Award, helping them build confidence, broaden their ambitions and prepare for the opportunities of the future.

The DofE charity is working to reach one million young people by the end of 2026. It has launched ambitious projects to fund schools and community organisations in the UK’s most deprived areas to start offering the DofE, and to support more young people with additional needs and disabilities to achieve their DofE Awards. The DofE is also delivered in prisons and young offender institutions.

About The Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards

Since 1956, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) has been inspiring millions of young people of all backgrounds and abilities to explore who they are, grow in confidence and develop the skills they need to successfully navigate life. As we celebrate the DofE charity’s 70th anniversary, our mission remains as relevant today as it has done for the last 70 years; helping young people build life-long belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents they never knew they had. The DofE is a global leader in young people’s personal development and is delivered in schools, colleges, community organisations, hospitals, prisons and more, all over the UK.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is open to any young person aged 14-24. Participants build their own programmes – choosing activities and a cause to volunteer for, in order to achieve a Bronze, Silver or Gold DofE Award. In 2024/25, more than 342,000 young people started their DofE, with participants giving more than 5.2 million hours of volunteering in their communities.
