🚀 Why world models matter: A world model is an AI system’s internal learned representation of an environment, which allows it to predict how its actions will affect that environment. This is an important research area because it equips AI systems with a more human-like understanding, enabling them to move from reactive responses to intelligent behaviour and learn in diverse scenarios.

🚀 A major advance: Our previous model, Genie 2, was the first foundation world model capable of generating new worlds, but Genie 3 is a significant step forward, generating high-quality, interactive worlds in real time with long memory and a far richer user experience through text control.

🚀 Potential impact: Genie 3 could help deliver a new era where agents can learn from their own experiences in simulated real-world environments, which could enable a big leap in their capabilities. It also provides a glimpse of an exciting new way for people to experience, learn, and play in new simulated worlds.

 

Google DeepMind's Genie 3 - A new frontier for world models

Genie 3, a general purpose world model that can generate an unprecedented diversity of interactive environments.

Given a text prompt, Genie 3 can generate dynamic worlds that you can navigate in real time at 24 frames per second, retaining consistency for a few minutes at a resolution of 720p.
